Miss. Marie Say is one of IOM AVRR beneficiary who returned to Liberia in 2018. She used her reintegration assistance to continue her education and setup a Micro business. She is hardworking, determined, persistence, and a motivator. She is one of the Migrants as Messengers Volunteer in Liberia.
Marie Sayo was born in Monrovia, Montserrado County on July 12, 1992. She currently lives in Matadi Estate, Monrovia. She is a high school graduate and has a businesswoman with the assistance of IOM Reintegration Program. She left Liberia with the intent to reach Europe to seek better living condition. She abandoned the journey due to the difficulties she experienced in Libya and Algeria. She was assisted by IOM to return in 2018. She is a devoted Christian and a single mother of one child. She is willing to share her story and encourage other returned migrants share their story to help potential migrants, parents, relatives, and friends make inform decision when it comes to traveling.

Returned migrants play a central role as Volunteers in the development, planning and implementation of the Migrants as Messengers campaign.

Through their stories, the learnings from their migratory experiences and their creativity, MaM Volunteers are the principal authors and actors of the campaign. From 2019-2022, a community of more than 300 volunteers across 7 countries will develop and grow. This community will also have access to diversified training and capacity-building opportunities and be invited to regular activities to support the development of an organic and sustainable community. Female engagement plays an important role within the MaM Volunteer community as they will take the lead in shaping women-to-women dialogue sessions and engaging female audiences more generally.
